WHAT IS NEEDED – HOW TO TEACH YOUR KIDS TODAY
Parents with young children at home have never had so many wonderful alternatives readily available for teaching their children basic skills. There are excellent educational television programs on cable and public television, a broad selection of DVD’s that are fun as well as educational, and many computer games available online free of charge. However, the most important thing parents need to remember is that they are the best resource a child could ever have. Time spent with supportive parents makes the difference. Parents need to talk to their children all the time, asking questions and answering every time a little one asks why. Every time a family goes out, to the store, the post office, for a walk, or to the apple orchard, it is an opportunity for a field trip for a child. Parents should expose their children to a variety of music, sights, and get active as much as possible in the outdoors. Small children are like little sponges, soaking everything up around them. The more interaction they have with adults and their environment, the more they will learn. Parents also need to remember to teach their children boundaries and discipline as part of life’s learning process today.
